On September 13-14, 2024, a green business training was held at Sinar Tambolaka Hotel, Sumba Barat Daya, NTT. The event brought together 8 business teams, comprising teachers and parents from eight different PAUD (early childhood education centers) supported by FMCH Indonesia. The aim was to enhance participants’ skills and knowledge in developing social enterprises with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Building on the success of the Sumba Barat Daya session, the training continued on September 27-28, 2024, in Timor Megah, Soe, Timor Tengah Selatan, NTT. 12 business teams of teachers and parents from different PAUD, supported by FMCH Indonesia at Timor Tengah Selatan, participated in this hands-on, two-day training.
Day 1: Strengthening Social Business Foundations & Introducing Climate Change Issues
The trainings kicked off with an opening session led by FMCH Indonesia field staff, who also served as trainers. The first segment refreshed participants on core concepts from previous social business training, ensuring everyone had a solid understanding of the basics.
Next, participants were introduced to climate change topics, focusing on its environmental impacts and how it affects everyday life, particularly in business operations. They also learned strategies to teach children about climate change, empowering parents and teachers to foster early environmental awareness.
Day 2: Implementing Green Business Practices
The second day focused on green business practices. Participants learned how to develop businesses that are both profitable and environmentally sustainable. Each team created a business canvas outlining their business models with an emphasis on sustainability.
The highlight of the day was a walking gallery, where groups presented their canvases. Participants strolled through the gallery, engaging with each team, asking questions, and gaining inspiration from one another’s innovative ideas.
This training is part of FMCH Indonesia’s ongoing support for social business development in our works area at East Nusa Tenggara, Sumba Barat Daya and Timor Tengah Selatan. It is hoped that through this training, all business teams will be able to transform their social enterprises into green businesses, which not only provide economic benefits but also help preserve the environment.
FMCH Indonesia hopes that this training will serve as a strong starting point for Womepreneurs in the region to continue developing their social enterprises with a focus on positive environmental impact. In doing so, they can become role models for other communities in building a better and more sustainable future.
